WEDDING IN ORVIETO
Last May 2012 Astrid and Martin from Switzerland both said 'Yes I do' for their wedding in Orvieto to each other besides a wonderful infinity swimming-pool deck which overlooks a green valley and has a beautiful view of the ancient city of Orvieto with its majestic Duomo Cathedral, creating a unique and memorable frame to their symbolic wedding ceremony. They had already had their official civil wedding ceremony in their hometown, which they had celebrated with their families, so this was their wedding week-end to celebrate with only their closest friends, the atmosphere was wonderful and the highlight of the weekend was the wedding, holiday, fun, good food and wine.
Wedding started off on the Friday evening once everyone had arrived. All the guests, 40 in total were accommodated at the Venue so it was a real party between all friends. They all got together in the evening for a lovely barbeque buffet in the gardens of the wellness SPA and partied until late night with exclusive access to the SPA. On Saturday, the day was nice and relaxed, at 2:30p.m. the hairdresser arrived and started pampering Astrid and thereafter everything started falling into place, the photographers started clicking away getting fantastic shots of the preparation to the wedding, the florist arrived with the beautiful bouquet, which Astrid admired with a huge smile.
From the bedroom window we could see all the guests seating themselves at the Ceremony venue and at 5 p.m. the Bride and Bridesmaid started their way down the stairs and the walkway to reach the Groom. The ceremony was very emotional capturing the love between the couple and ending with their personal letter to each other sealed and nailed in a box of great Italian wine - only to be opened and read by each other in private if their marriage is ever in difficulty.
Once the ceremony had ended, the couple were showered with rice by the guests before the guests were led to the welcome cocktail in the gardens of the second swimming-pool, where they enjoyed a delicious appetizer and aperitifs buffet under the shady trees of the beautiful garden while the bride and groom slipped away with the photographer for personal photo shoots. The sit-down wedding dinner on the belvedere swimming pool terrace was wonderfully arranged with 5 round tables and a rectangular top table all covered with white tablecloths with a beautiful tall glass cylinder filled with water where 2 big white Calla lilies were submerged. The surrounding area was decorated with beautiful tall lanterns and candles which outlined the infinity swimming-pool area and the deck.
Everyone had fun listening to the various speeches and enjoyed the outstanding three course meal served to them, not to mention how much the good Italian wine was appreciated too. After the cutting of the wedding cake, the first dance was announced and the happy couple gave a fabulous start to the wedding dance party, which was surprisingly interrupted by the group 'Abba', Astrid and Martin's favourite singing group - four of their friends, 2 girls and 2 guys got dressed up, wigs and all to imitate the group Abba with an amazing show which was much enjoyed and appreciated by everyone. From then on the wedding party was in full swing with partying and dancing and not a worry in the world - what a wonderful wedding night for all.
The uniqueness of this venue is that Astrid and Martin not only could enjoy the company of their guests to be witnesses to their most special day at their actual wedding, but they could enjoy a fabulous week-end wedding holiday in the greenest heart of Italy with all their closest friends.
